It is a pale yellow crystal, usually powdery or flaky, with a sweet, musk-like animal aroma, soft and long-lasting. It is insoluble in water, insoluble in ethanol, soluble in benzyl benzoate, animal oil and essential oil, melting point is 135-139 ℃, density is 1.2±0.1 g/cm3, boiling point is 369.0±42.0℃ at 760 mmHg, flash point is 153.2±20.7℃.
